In a world where fast food rules supreme, it’s nice to come to a place like this and think about what could be if we change our mindsets, put some love into our cooking, and create amazing food that satisfies the soul as well as the stomach.” -Ryan L., Yelp user

Japanese:

  • Kazoku
4210 E Speedway Blvd
Tucson, AZ 85712

(520) 777-6249

http://www.kazokurestaurant.com

Reviews:

“Kazoku” means family in the Japanese language, and what better way to describe who we are. After years of experience in the restaurant business, Co-owners Chef Youn (nephew) and Uni Vawser (aunt) had dreamt to one day open a restaurant of their own.” – Kazoku website

“The best Japanese food in Tucson. Fabulous sushi and sashimi as well as cooked foods. The guy had grilled yellow tail and it was a revelation of fish goodness. A giant Kirin Ichiban , plum ice cream for dessert. There are lots of choices in Tucson for Japanese food but honestly, this is THE place.” Bleep S., Yelp user

  • Ikkyu
2040 W Orange Grove Rd Ste 180
Tucson, AZ 85704
(520) 297-9011

“What can I say about Ikkyu other than its the BEST Japanese food in Tucson. Hands down. In fact, its the  best Japanese food in Arizona and the best Ive had in a long time! Their menu is kind of small, but that just means that each item on their menu is tasty and made fresh! Their curry is amazing and their bento are cheap and fulling. The ramen is VERY good. It reminds me of that home-cooked, authentic feel. The Miso Ramen and the Spicy Ramen are some of my favorite food in Tucson. Especially when the temperature drops. Its great to warm you up and full you up.” - Jim R., Yelp user

Mexican:

  • Mariscos Chihuahua
1009 N Grande Ave
Tucson, AZ 85745

(520) 623-3563

http://www.mariscoschihuahua.com/

Reviews:

“With eight different locations between Mexico and the U.S Mariscos Chihuahua offers the best seafood in the desert, fresh and made just for you to enjoy the flavor of Mexican mariscos with a family touch.” Mariscos Chihuahua website

“If you like seafood, I mean if you really like seafood, this, or one of its’ sister restaurants is THE place. Fresh and flavorful.  The Culiche sauce is so good I have dreams about it. Introduce some freshly grilled fish, and you get a taste of heaven. Especially with fresh tortillas. Another favorite is the combo seafood platter : fresh shrimp, squid, snail, octopus, sliced onion, avocado, tomato all dressed in lime juice. Wow! You’ll want it again and again. This place is worth the price. Service is always great. Beyond the great food, the 3D wall art, done by an artist from Mexico, is like nothing that you have ever seen.”Stephen G., Yelp user

  • Little Cafe Poca Cosa
151 N Stone Ave
Tucson, AZ 85707

http://www.littlepocacosa.com

Reviews:

“Pack up the family, we love children. Bring cash, we don’t take plastic. Bring earplugs, we never turn the music down. Most importantly, bring your appetite and let Marcela, Sandra, and Eric fill your belly and your soul with good food and good lovin’! While you’re here drop a little something in the jar and spread that love around.”Little Cafe Poca Cosa website

“I HEART this place. Hugs are mandatory (I swear! It’s on their sign), the music is so loud you can barely hear your dining buddies speak, but really, you’re probably not even listening to them, you’ll be too involved with your food, it’s delicious. Plus, the music is always upbeat and so diverse (you’ll hear Mexican, Reggae, Country). There’s so much love in this place! It’s quite incredible to see how united the family is with another sister, Susana running Cafe Poca Cosa, her daughter owns Cup Quequitos, and the youngest sister owns a catering company called Buen Provecho. And they give back so much to the Tucson community. Truth be told, I prefer the Little Poca over the Cafe….why? It’s fun! More casual! Let uptight. Food is heartwarming, healthy and delicious.”Isabella J., Yelp user

Tucson, AZ 85713

(520) 622-6253

http://thesilversaddlesteakhouse.com

Reviews:

“Our warm and rustic atmosphere was created inside the Silver Saddle Steakhouse and Tapadera Lounge. In keeping with old southwest tradition, a custom steel and brick mesquite wood grill and pit were built.  An antique buggy wheel with welded horseshoes attached serve to raise the cooking grill to appropriate levels above the smoky mesquite wood fire. ”- Silver Saddle Steakhouse website

“This steakhouse is well worth the drive to get there.  The food is great and decently priced.  The bar area in the back is fairly decent sized and has a few televisions scattered throughout, usually with whatever sport is in season on.  I highly recommend Silver Saddle if you’re in the mood for a good steak.”Allison C., Yelp user

“I love love love this place. This was on my bucket list of bars I wanted to visit while in Tucson, so my husband and I had a night out on 4th Ave, came here (naturally) and it did not disappoint. As soon as I walked through the door I felt happy.  Why you ask? Well call me strange (I am) but I loved the dark ambiance…the skeletons, moose heads, posters etc. Also a great place to people watch.  Also loved the music they played.” – Anna J., Yelp user

  • Trolley Pub
